Sefton Court is just along the coast from Blackpool lie the twin towns of Lytham and St Annes (often referred to collectively as "Lytham St Annes"). St Annes is an excellent example of an English seaside town with a splendid promenade, a vast expanse of sandy beach, Victorian Pier and entertainment for all ages.
The recently developed cinema and swimming pool complex provides refuge on those rainy days, whilst the long sandy beach is the perfect haven for children. The town is committed to achieving "Classic Resort" status from the English Tourist Board and a recent redevelopment scheme for the town centre has seen massive investment in contemporary architecture designed to compliment the outstanding Victorian buildings that are the hallmark of the Fylde. There are peaceful parks, beautiful gardens and a cosmopolitan shopping district with independent department stores and individual high class shops as well as many delightful restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets, from exotic Japanese cuisine to traditional fish and chips!
A couple of miles along the coast, sitting on the Ribble Estuary, is the bustling town of Lytham, most notable for its links with the professional golfing world. The famous Royal Lytham and St Anne's Golf Club has hosted ten Open Championships, two Ryder Cups and numerous other major tournaments including the Women's and Seniors Open Championships. The 2012 Open Championship will once again return to Lytham which will bring a huge influx of visitors from across the globe. In addition, there are 3 other championship courses locally making the area a haven for golfers.
